hey i have an 88 gq patrol and im after anyone who has had this problem and what they did to fix it . today i was out driving round in the bush and all of a sudden the window wipers started and the only way i could stop them was to turn the ignition off then back on but it has also lost the intermitant setting and they just stop where ever you turn them off instead of stopping at the bottom of the windscreen.

Must be something in the water lately. Im having the exact same issue with mine at the moment.
I think its the switch cause it stops when you disconnect it.

Windshield Wiper Amplifier

It is located drivers side under that black cover beside the battery, guard side not on the diagonal bracket that is the injection pump control unit. There are or should be 3 things on the guard Very front is the glow plug relay(if car is diesel) next back is our wiper amp then the starter relay

Got 2 of them here. You can have one if you want to drive to Jimboomba to pick it up mate? It is raining so you will need your wipers on all the way anyway lol

Shoot me PM if you want to come get it

sounds like the same thing that happened to me. it is unlikley that it is the switch. they stop when you disconnect the switch because they are negitavely triggered through the switch. i tried a new switch and a new amp but did not fix it. i would suggest trying those first. if you have a mate with a gq see if your can borrow his, heaps easier than sourcing and buying another one then finding out is was not that, which happened to me. if it is not that it could be in the wiring. i had to go though and pull out each wire individualy from each plug till it stopped doing it. than re ran that wire. for me it was the wire that goes from the motor to the #2 speed on the switch. it could also be the little sensor thing on the back of the wiper motor that tells it where the blades so if you try the amp and switch try the motor as well. you can pm me if you need me to explain better. i had to go through pretty much every part of the wiper system before i fixed mine.

I got an amplifier today but its a brown one from a TI with variable speed wipers.
While it pretty much fixed my issues my intermittant are not variable speed and it does one pass then stops.
So it looks like I need a black one for non variable speed intermittant like the one that come out of it.
Anyone have one they wanna sell me?
