In the older cruisers, (like my 47) , does the troopie have a longer wheelbase than the utes?

The ute is definitely longer, but that may be just the trayback overhang? The wheelbase could be the same.

I was just thinking that it might be easier as far as the dept of transport is concerned if I was to use the longer wheelbase chassis of a troopy with my ute body and build a new tray to get the rear axle further back for better departure angle and better load carrying ability.

Just trim the ute chassis down!
