Post by BEAR 80 »

Hey all, we are holding a comp in the Mackay, Nth Qld, area over the Easter break. There will be 3 classes, Stock, Modified & Team.
All nomiation forms can be obtained from Opposite Lock Mackay, 07 4961 8520.
There will be a limit of 16 vehicles per stock & mod classes, & 7 teams of 3 vehicles for the team event.
This is the first comp of it's kind in the Mackay area, and providing that everything goes well, this will be the first of many. Through this event, all proceeds will be donated to the Mackay Region SES.
Spectators are welcome, and some camping will be available. So contact Brent for more info.

Hey Elf, there is both individual and a team event. Stages will be a mixture of timed & points markers. Those with winches will definately have an advantage. Depending on the class you want to run to the tyres restrictions. No cages required etc. If you want more info, or a copy of the Rules & Regs, contact Brent @ Opposite Lock Mackay on 07 4961 8507, or brent@oplock.com.au.

Luxs, the tracks will vary, what class are you looking to run in.

Brett, if you have any issues on the way up, I'm going to laugh my guts out and leave you on the side of the road until the comps over, then I will show were Repco is, and yes, there is a Maccas near the Repco. Who's coming up?

Hey Brett. This sounds pretty good.
Always good to have another local comp to enter/spectate

Is it going to be spectator friendly?
Any media coverage planned? Local news or the like?
Are there prizes for competitors?
Can you give us a hint of a competitors list and vehicles? - and where they are coming from?

I'm really looking forward to this and am definately coming to check it out I'll try to get some more Rockhampton people keen.
Thanks
Dan

Hey Digsy, we have people coming from Rocky, Townsville & the locals at this stage.
Trophies are up for grabs for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in all classes. There will be random prizes as well for those that the official see as incourgement awards etc, in the form of tyres etc on the day. We will also be holding raffles for winch packs etc the will start in store over the next week or so.
This event will be very spectator friendly, with go viewing areas of most of the tracks. We are currently talking to the local papers etc for coverage, & I have sent 4WD Action an email asking them to get involved, but to date, I have had no reply. Over the coming weeks, I will be talking to some of the TV station as well. If anaciouyone has any other suggestions, I am all ears.
I will start a list of competitors in the coming weeks, but there will also be an update list in store at Opposite Lock Mackay.
I will be sending out posters and fliers in the next week or so to all sponsors, and anyone else that is willing to display them for me.
At this stage as well, we have Lynda O'Reilly, owner & driver of the Barbie Patrol that will be competeing at Tuff Truck, also coming up. Lynda has very graciously donated her time and truck to display at the comp and give our locals at look at what a full blown comp truck looks like.
I really hope people get behind this comp as if this one is a success, there will be more to come. We really need spectators as much as we need competitors, as the spectators create the hipe that we need.

sounds like its all coming together quite nicely, im trying to get a crew from gladstone to come up to both spectate and compete, luxs will be running 35's and front rears and a fair bit of lift so im guessing he will be in the higher class, just wondering would i need a licence to co-pilot? ive lost it due to my innability to follow the speed limts

Navi's only need to be over the age of 15. Drivers must have current licence. I would have thought that a Lux on 35's would be able to stick to speed limits just fine, you must be an exceptional human being. People with your talents shouldn't be fined, there should be rewarded.
Really good to see people looking at coming from far and wide. Anyone that wants to register from out side mackay can contact me at brent@oplock.com.au and will email the nom forms to them. If you want to pay your fees via direct debit, let me know & I will give you the details, other than that, call me on 4961 8520 & we can take credit card over the phone.

It will be good to see you, make sure you come and introduce your self.

Guys, just so everyone is up to speed, there are limited places avialable for all classes, so if you want to enter, I would suggest getting your forms & fees in quickly.
Just this week, I have had 6 regisrtations, which means only 10 places left. The only thing that MAY push the Mod numbers out, is if I don't get enough stock vehicles.

Crazy Eyes, the more the merrier.
I am looking also at getting at team together for the CQ this year. When do noms start?
Asfar as this comp goes, I think I am just about on top of it, the biggest thing has been sponsors, as I had a few pull out at the last minute, so paying the bills has been a bit tough, let alone donating money to our charity, the SES. I have had a few people donate prizes over the past few days, of whick some I am going to raffle, and other for encouragement type prizes at the event.

Just so you are aware, all vehicles MUST be registered. If anyone needs, I can email a copy of the rulles & regs, and registration form. Just send and email to brent@oplock.com.au requesting one.

No probs Mosko, I have people leaving there detail with me for that exact reason. I already have 1 or 2 people looking for a team to join. Send me an email & I will pass names onto you.
It's great to see that we are getting so much interest from outside the Mackay area.

If anyone needs to direct deposit nom fee into my account, please send me an email & I will get the details for you.

Hey all, I having been getting some feed back in regards to people thinking that they won't enter due to fear of breaking there trucks.
In light of this, I am changing the way the scoring will be done. The only track that will now be worked on a timed basis will be the hill drags, all other tracks will work on a points marker system, similar to Tuff Truck, still with DNF times on these stages.
This will give everyone the option to take there vehicles as far as they feel comfortable & still earn points towards the final points. But keep in mind, those that push that little bit harder, will be rewarded.

Hey Kirby, going well.
We will have some dirt tracks that shouldn't be to hard on the Rangie.
I just need the rain to stop soon so we can get into the tracks again. If this rain doesn't stop soon, we will have to look at different tracks as the current tracks are still flowing with water and inpassable. We just need a week or 2 of good sun & she will be right.
A bit of rain over that weekend will be ok, should make things interesting.
