Hey guys.
What do you think of this?
Ford Mav. '89 LWB 4.2 dual fuel, 5 spd a/c p/s roof rack, cargo barrier, dual batteries, 4 extra wheels and tyres, towbar and upgraded suspension. RWC and 12 months reg. It is in almost perfect condition inside and out. Iv driven it and the only prob i can see is there is a fair bit of travel in the clutch before it takes up. And also it has 250k (too much?)
He's askin $10250 but i think hell go to $10k
SHOULD I BUY?
Cheers,
BEn

Not a bad price if it is in good nick, I also would start in the 9's. I picked my LWB up at a car yard for $6k but it needed a small amount of work. The car yard down the road from work has 3 LWB all for under 10k.

if you intend on doing a lot of miles on corrugated roads get a post 92 model as the early ones crack diff housings.
my 89 model did it 14 times... should have braced it the first time as i think the pumpkin moves up and down relative to the ends on corrugated roads.
mileage is not bad.
fuel consumption is not good
but should be a reliable rig.

$10,250...... means he wants $10,000 !!!!
Like everyone else said ..... start at $9,000 and HAGGLE HARD ! ....
I'd be extra cheeky and start at $8,000 but only if you can find a few faults.
Take some-one that knows these rigs inside out, they will spot things you wont.
It's YOUR money so dont give it away .... what he wants and what he gets are always 2 differant things
!!!! ..... just ask my missus

You've got some nice extras there so it might be worth that much or close to it, but on the other and I'd bet he doesn't have buyers lining up at that price so I'd stick pretty firm and close to $9k or even lower, depending on what the extra wheels and tyres are worth etc. If it were stock with none of the extras then at that age it would be worth $7500 - $8500 I reckon.
I wouldn't worry about the mileage if it's been looked after. If the motor sounds decent (not rattly) and it isn't smokey then it's good for a lot of miles yet, even better if it's got a service history.
Anyway, good luck. If you paid ten grand for it I don't think that would be anything to complain about.

For 10k id check EVERY little thing and bring him down on price on every bad thing you see quoting that you'd have to pay that amount etc etc to get it fixed.

To give you an idea i just sold my SWB Maverick for $6000 and it had heaps of extrta's possibly more than the one you are looking at and less kms. Only it didnt have lpg, Agree with the rest of the guys, start as low as $8k.
My 2 cents
