Hey Guys,

im having a few dramas with my truck its an 80 series 1fz-fe on petrol no gas 1994 manual.

When the car is cold for the first 30 seconds whilst trying to drive it the vehicle is really flat spotty and it pops and farts around all over the shop and it is barely driveable but after this first 30 seconds of crap it then comes good and starts driving normally. Idles fine etc.

Then after about 20 mins of driving fine the vehicle then starts to drive really lethargic. it will rev fine to 2k then anything after that it barely revs at all.

I was told by the mechanic the injectors were just old and shit so i replaced them with some newies and it still does the same shit. Im at a loss to what it could be! im thinking maybe a coolant temp sensor or something im not 100% sure so i was just after some input if i could.

cheers

Theres a diagnostic box somewhere in the engine bay, bridge terminals T or TE1 & E1 together, turn the car to on and the check engine light (in the instrument cluster) will flash in a sequence,(morse code sought of stuff) it will tell you what if any sensor is not working as it should, after 20 mins being slow etc sounds like the ecu is putting its self into safe mode which would be caused by a sensor / ignition throwing wrong resistances etc.

Search for cruiser error codes and match the sequence to what the engine light was showing.

If the coolant temp sensor was buggered, it should run okish on start up as it will send a minimum temp reading to the ecu,if the sensor is faulty, as the engine heats up it needs less fuel to stay in the right a/f, although tha'ts not to say it isn't the sensor
