How much do i offer for a highmount winch

I know a bloke that has pulled me up a few time and said make me an offer on my winch!

As you all know when parting with cash you dont want to overshoot the mark or offend the bloke by offering not enough.

the winch hasen't been used for years and it is in the blokes way.

WHAT SHOULD I OFFER

there a couple in the melb trading post, one was $650 the other $900. So if it is in good nick then guess somewhere around 900, if not less. But then again whats it worth to you.

purchased highmount winch for $400 good price i thought untill i stripped the winch.
-Secondary gear of motor end is stuffed(covered in rust) found out that i have to purchase the hole top end of winch (cant just buy the gear)

-found a second problem the primary gear on the break shaft (the gear beside the cam)is missing a tooth!!!!!

got a price from local agent at a cost of $600 for these faults

Is there somwhere that i can buy direct or buy cheep part for the M8274?
