G'day Fella's,
Wondering if anyone can give me specific details about putting a 60 series 5 speed box in a HJ 47, like what I need to do and what I need to do it. I am wondering if anyone knows if I can use the transfer off the 40 so I can keep the 40 handbrake and exactly how far back I need to move the rear mounts etc. and how much I need to shorten and extend the front and rear shafts.
Thanks for any help

Matt

-The gearbox mounts dont need to be moved.
-Front tail shaft needs to be lenghtened
-rear tail shaft shortened
-transfer handbrake will foul on the chassis crossmember so you use
60 series rear backing plates and 75 series troopy handbrake cable so
handbrake is off rear drums.
-transfer lever needs to be re-bent to come through stock hole.

bin there done that the 5spd is a rather simple conversion obvious things like the transfer cover plate, front and rear tailshafts need to be modifyed but easy as pie the to answer the question regarding using a 40s transfer for the handbrake it wont clear the rear crossmember with the handbrake on the prop unless you want to move the cross member :x back. what i have done is run a 60s set of backing plates and a custom handbrake cabel you can use the standard 4spd cross member you may have to modify depending on how much flex you get. i have some picks on my build up thred if that counts
