Outer Limits 4x4 Board

For the last couple of days, when starting the engine (HZJ105 - 1HZ) it has been making a whirring noise for 1-2 seconds just after the engine starts.
It sounds like its coming from the starter motor.
I will be removing the starter motor this weekend for a look, but has anyone got any idea what this noise could be?

sticking contacts maybe

I think I got the same noise. I just tap the accelerator lighly and the noise is gone and she runs like new.
Could well be something completely different though

I would think its the stater pinon gear not disengaging.
When you pull it out, check that it can slide easily on the shaft.
