I'm currently fitting breathers to my diffs, gearbox and trans case. What has everyone used to get a hose onto their trans case? There doesn't seem to be enough length to get a hose on whats left after the cap is popped off.

i have put a screw up type hose clamp on it, its alittle fiddly, but once its on there, its all good

I've done this too but the better option is to tap the case for 1/4"BSP and put a proper barb in it.
I did this as a quick fix once, and after a highcounty trip with river crossings, drained about 1/2 a litre of water out of my case because the hose came off.
The steel insert that has the cap on it is just a press fit - It comes out pretty easy. The hole in the alloy case is almost exactly the right diameter for a 1/4" BSP tap.

it would definately be the better option tapping and using the barb if the case wasnt allready together, under my car and full of oil.Id like to do the barb idea but will probably go the hose clamp just to save time, aslong as i can make it stay on.

i ended up using a piece of plastic which stepped up from one end being small enough to fit into the trans case then up to a larger diameter to fit inside the hose. i hose clamped the hose end but i just siliconed around the plastic where it goes into the trans case. it shouldn't come out as the hose is sitting up against the tunnel nice and snug. i will definitely keep an eye on it though.

i used quality silicone hosing, with a bit of sikaflex on the ridge of the leftover breather fitting after taking the sprung cap off. with a spring type clamp its held on no problems
