Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Ok, just looking at options for a little more room in the rear when we go away (have to fit 2 kids + gear in somehow).

My vehicle has the separate, flash cloth seats in the rear. They are somewhat "fatter" at the rear than bench seats, so limit space behind them compared to a single bench from the lower spec models.

Anybody in Melbourne have one they're willing to part with for a reasonable price?

AJ what about a thule on the roof? We use one and we can get alot of stuff into it.

Yeah, I'll be doing that as well, but I'm after a little more room inside too, if I can get it.

While we're on it, anybody have a spare rear roof bar and hardware? That way i can more easily run a pod or basket.

Thats the single reason i had to sell my Feroza :( .. 2x kids, handbrake + recovery gear + Camping gear meant there just wasnt enough room in the Fez, or my 6 foot tall son was jambed into 6 inches of legroom. (im tall and had to drive with the seat right back and even then it was still too close to be 100% comfortable

Get a small trailer and a roof pod with some Rola (or similar) racks.



Just keep in mind only light items should go on the roof (50kg max including the pod weight). I used to put bedding, clothing etc in mine. You're also limited by the shape of them as to what you can fit in- soft items that can be "squished" work best.

I've used mine in sustained torrential rain at speeds up to 120km/h and never had any water get in. Mine's made by Mont Blanc (spelling?) and is a low profile model- handy for getting into garages with it fitted.

Trailer? Had to sell mine last year because I had nowhere to store it. May consider getting something a little smaller that I can store upright in the garage at the new house.....once we find somewhere to put all the other cr@p that's in there at the moment.

They do unbolt and are removable you tard.

We go camping/hunting all the time so my pod is only on when we go away. My garage is low so I just unbolt it.
Murcod how did you going towing a trailer with your feroza? Did it slow it down on hills? Mine slows right down on some of the hills with all our gear.

Feroza is no longer DD. Going away for the weekend with the kids, the LAST thing I'll be wanting/have time to do when I get home is to unbolt a pod before I put her in the garage.

I used to tow a 7 x 5 box trailer with 2 dirt bikes onboard, the dog, the Ex, and all of the sh!t she insisted on bringing along with no worries at all. Did trips all over NSW, down to Vic, etc. and didn't notice too much drag from it all.

Bigger tyres make a difference.

i do have a spare bench seat that dad wishes to get rid of.

I will see if he is able to get it down you neck of the woods throuhg work for little/no costs and we can go from there?

The trailer would slow it down a bit but I never found it much of an issue even going out of Adelaide through the Adelaide Hills. It would even go OK in fifth and rarely did I have to change down.

AJ- do you have a roller door on your garage? If so you can temporarily remove the stops and get some more height out of the opening- just be careful! On mine one stop hits about 8cm before the other side, so I've just removed that side's stop so it will now go higher. I only needed the extra clearance for my XL-7- the Feroza was fine.

You can also get different height "legs" with some roof racks; and the pod I've got also has recesses for the rack bars to fit into. It all helps.
