Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I need to cover up the old torrie with a car cover to stop the trees dropping crap all over it and eventually speed up the rust process.

The paint atm doent matter.

What is the best car cover to use to stop sweating, etc. OR do i just use a cheap tarp from bunnings,etc.

i have heard about tight covers making the car sweat and i have also heard of loose covers causing scratches. bit of a lose lose situation.

A mate used a tarp on his Torana while OS. It kept the water off, but a bunch of (original) paint peeled off with the tarp when it was removed.

A frame arrangement that doesn't touch the car itself would be the best imho, and worth it in the long run.

How about one of those el-cheapo "portable carport" things?

I was thinking that, even if you cut it down so it's just big enough to cover the pos.

throw an old flannel sheet over the car first to protect it from scratches, then loosely tie a tarp over. make sure the tarp comes down further than the sheet else the sheet may get wet...

Those thin nylon covers are ok but I don't have a sap problem to worry about. However, I have been through 3 of them in 5 years (that's 24hr a day 365 day a year use on an old mini I'm babysitting while someone is OS. They eventually get thin and then rip to threads in a wind.

Cheap bunnings / supercheap tarps of ok but after 6 months they start to fall apart from the UV. They were used in the same spot as the nylon covers but on a different vehicle. I haven't used one of those temporary carports for more than a couple of days (base camp at MTB races) but I wouldn't think the tarp is very UV proof given how cheap they are.

Since the mini is not very tall, I'm going to move it next to one of the side fences and build a small frame and cover the top with shade cloth. The shade cloth I have used on pergolas is still perfect after years. Whilst it isn't water proof I think it will do an ok job at tree sap and bird poo etc

yeah the white tarp shit on the portable carport things from supercrap last about 3 months, ends up like confetti, we are using one at the moment with a good qulity tarp over the white crap. if you do use one, tek screw all the joins, hold the frames together very well

autotechnica supprisingly do a good one for long term use
