There is a lot of people who say you can't weld the riveted chassis etc.

I think if it is done properly it should be fine.

If it is repaired well it should fix the problem.

It can be done it just has to done right. There are companies that extend 4wd chassis's all the time so straight up there is the proof.

Where has it cracked? Around the front hanger for the rear springs is a common spot. Pics?

Has the crack got anything to do with a rusty chassis? Mine has.

I have fixed a few of these in the past myself. 45's and 40's. Also cracking near cab mounts etc.

It is fine to weld the rivited brackets on. You have to remove the bracket, V out the crack, weld it up and then put what we call a fish plate on the back overlapping the cracked area by 300m either side. This plate is just stitch welded in place still allow the chassis to flex a bit with out it cracking again and adding additional strength.

Hope this helps,
Troy.

Would probably last another 10 years if you aren't carting heavy weight or towing anything. Particularly if its only the inner 'C'

Just have a guy like bubs weld it up and stick a fish plate over it:

kinda a bit of flat steel cut out like this < > welded over the spot.
