Swap transfer cases in lux
what needs to be done to swap a chain driven transfer from late model lux for a gear driven transfer from early model?
Gear driven is stronger right? With more options for reduction gears or dual cases?

yes you are right gear driven does have alot more optoins cause a chain driven only has one and that is to swap to gear driven gearbox and transfer i did this in my conversion very simple all you need to change is the gearbox mount wich is bolted to your bearbox x-member and with mine i changed my instrument cluster because the chain driven transfer has an electronic speedo drive where as the geardriven has a mechanical speedo drive i hear rumors that you can get something that adapts mechanical to electronic but swaped the instrument cluster and speedo cable only cost $100 from the wrecker and there is every chance you will end up with a speedo with less km's on it
one other thing i had to redrill my font drive flange because the off set on the holes are a little different this is not hard to do either

sorry for my ignorrance i work with wood but you are talking about the shaft that runs from gearbox into transfer if so they could very well be different as i changed my whole gearbox and transfer not just transnfer it is to my understanding that transfer to gearbox (chain gearbox-geartransfer) is not interchangeable
Re: k
Thats what I thought but your 1st reply read that you only changed the t case, not the gearbox and t case.dreama wrote:is to my understanding that transfer to gearbox (chain gearbox-geartransfer) is not interchangeable

So if I understand correctly, to do this conversion, BOTH gearbox and T-case need to be swapped out not just T-Case?
Thanks for the replies

Is this same setup as with gear driven or different adaptor? Any idea of costs? Have you done this 4sum4?
