I am just about to change the oil in my 1.3L, and I was wondering what type of oil people had found to be the best for sierras.
Currently I use Penrite HPR30 in it. A mate of mine has run two sierras from new and swears by Mobil 1 synthetic.
Any ideas?

yeah I got my motor fully rebuilt and they recomended I use penrite. it hasn't missed a beat and I have flogged the crap out of it for 18 months on road and off road, often revs to 5500 on road just to beat traffic, somtimes a bit more depends how kind I am being to it.
I use hpr40, they said if I did a fair bit of offroad and sand driving I should use it, a bit more viscous.

I've been using synthetic blends lately in my tracker, and noticed a bit of a difference when i first started using it. Ran it for 4,000 miles and the oil came out clean. Put in standard 5w-30, and 3,000 and it came out dirty, so i went back with the synthetic blend right away.
Yes, mobil 1 is the best, but you gotta keep using it. You can't mix it with conventional oil, and to get the full benefits from it, you should continue using it from the first change onwards.
I like the syntec blend (castrol) cause it's not too pricey, and i like the results.
FYI, mobil 1 here is $4.99 a quart (about a litre), and castrl syntec blend is $1.89 a quart... $US.
