does anyone know where i can get a 23mm fine thread tap??

i need to make a new drag link and want to use toyota tie rod ends which are a fine thread M23.

i tried all the specialised bolt stored around newy and couldnt find one!

has someone confirmed the thread size of toyota rod ends?
I looked at doing the same and was told it wasnt 23mm, I couldnt find a tap to match.

i didnt buy the tap i just had jmac make the arms up,

to buy the tap i know they are about $400.00, and you will need to buy 2 taps, 1 left and 1 right thread

yes they are 23mm, have just done all of this to my truck

you will also need to be careful with what steering box you are running as the hole in the pitmart arm changes from 80 series to 70 series, as to which tierod you can run, and also depends if you need the steering damper bracket attached to the tie rod, when you loose the the bracket on the rod you have to use a 80 series tie rod if your still runing a 70 series box, this is when the problems start, because the hole in the arm is to big, ive just had a tapperd bush machined up to take up the diffrence

Fisher Lamco at sandgate would have it or be able to get it...but yeh won't be cheap...I got a quote off them for a M24 fine thread and it was over a hundred atleast (can't remember exact price now)...

Whats easier than recieving the rod in the mail ready to go!

i have a custom one in there now it has 80 rod ends on them and goes in the pitman arm fine as i have already replaced the ends once!! as for steer damper im just going to use the L bracket with the U-bolts so thats no problem either

i don't think 23mm x 1.5 tap is available off the the self anywhere especially left hand thread as it is a size uniqie to automotive stuff. Most steering arms are internaly threaded on a lathe in that size.

22x1.5 and 24x1.5 are common. 23 is not common. i screw cut mine. you should be able to have somebody screw cut the thread for you. have it done in a lathe and it will be a "better" thread.

hey evan,ya should try D+N engineering just up the road from ARB Newcastle, shaw they could do ya ends for ya nice and cheap...was in there the other day for work and hit him up about some wheel spacers and he said he could do somethin cheap...
