i toiled for ages over whether or not to do a shackle reversal & in the end I left it as is. There is so many pro's & con's but for my use I chose to leave it as is.
check out this article, it has a lot of good & bad points. It is refering to jeeps but it is the same for all leaf sprung front vehicles.

My extended shackles are fine and have not affected handling. What they do is amplify any other problems you may have like shotty tie rod ends etc. Fix those problems and they won't be a problem in themselves.
They also have little to do with flex. It is the actual springs that will affect the flex of the suspension. The shackles just hang on to them. An extended shackle is must for lifts over 4inch as the springs need to be able to extend fully on compression which a standard shackle will limit.
