Hey guys was just chasing some advice on 3L V6 triton.
The one I was looking at is a dual cab 1997. it has about 228 000 k's on the clock, what i wanted to know was, is this alot of k's for that sort of year, and is there something i should be cautious of, is there anything that normally starts to wear or needs replacing after that amount of use. Or are the tritons pretty robust and can keep running without too many dramas...
any help would be great.

230k km for a 12 year old car isn't excessive, but it's not low either. At that age/distance the usage/service history becomes more relevant.
Well serviced with mainly country running, I'd say it wouldn't be too bad. Poor service history with lots of suburban running, the distance is probably an issue.
The V6 needs the timing belt changed every 100k km - look for evidence it was done, preferably receipts for the belts. It's too easy to just tick the boxes and stamp the owner's manual.
Apart from the usual servicing issues, the only significant Triton issue I can recall is with the gearbox - some seem more fragile than others. Try to drive a few to "get a feel" for a good box - if there's any doubt about the one you're looking at, factor a re-build into the price.
Other than that, it's a 12 year old vehicle. You will need to spend money, but not necessarily any more than any other 12 year old vehicle. At least you won't need to pay for Toyota badges.

Hi muscles, the gearbox issues were with the 2.8 diesel engines, the v6 boxs are good.
The one thing I have had fail on 2 of the v6 tritons I have owned is a windscreen wiper motor on each.
+200k vehicles of any make and model will require a certain amount of upkeep and maintenance.
