A few problems after 4" Suspension Lift - - - 'ELP US'

Hey guys,
Have had the 4" Suspension lift in the Mav now for about a week now, and have noticed a few things that I hope has been experienced before :).

1) Suspension travel: with the stabilizer bars still being the standard length, when the rear is in full travel, its basicly hanging on the stab bars, do I just need to extend the link between the chassis and the actual stab bar ? Or should I invest in a disconnect ?

2) On Road, when driving home each day, for some reason the front left hand side can get a bit upset and it feels like something is 'bouncing', and wont settle down till ive slowed to about 50 - 60km/h. (From 100) Could this also be the front stab bar being wound up to tight because of the lift ?

Thanks for your help again guys.

Are you using adjustable shock absorbers????

Extend the stabilizers + get disconnects, best of both worlds

Nar, not using adjustables. Just standard EFS shockies

Havent changed any bushes. Silly question but which one is the panard rod? Is that longer one that runs diagonal from the chassis ? And can I do those bushes myself....I know I cant do Caster bushes myself as ive been told a press is needed.

Thanks for ya help.

yes, you guessed right, the link that runs parralel to the steering drag-link.

you need a press to change the bushes. the car can sit safely in your driveway without the panhard in it. so buy your bushes, pull the panhard out (need to disconnect the drag-link to get it off at the axle end) and take them to your local mechanic armed with a case of beer and see how you go..

Ok, cool thanks for that. So out of curiosity, what is actully happening?, I thought the panard rod was just to keep things centered.

it is, but the more angle you put into it, the less effective it becomes, so any movement in the bushes is exaggerated. when your LH wheel hits somehting, it is now allowed to move sideways, which loads up the steering, then it fights back, and ends up setting up a kind of oscillation..

So Im guessing its a Nissan Patrol?

Also use Pathfinder rear sway bar links front and rear. They are a lot longer

Arr, right, and offset bushes will make the panard rod 'longer' and fix the problem ?

Thanks again for the info....things make a lot more sense now.

Draven,

Chuck the rear sway bay, do the panhard rod bushes and make sure you do the nuts up real tight when putting the panhard rod back on. You may think you have done the nuts up tight but when you get to about 60klms the front end will start to wobble again.

Let me know if you still want my rear sway bar factory disconnect (in cab) cause I''l have it off in about 2 weeks and you can have it if you pick it up.

Cheers
linc

ohhh thanks Wendle... I feel special now. I picked it.

Mine went about 3 weeks ago, had to get towed home cause couldnt get over 40 k's without the front shaking its head off.

Ok, so really the reason why my front end is going stupid is because my panard rob bushes arent that great and when ive lifted it, the panard rods have become less efficient and the old bushes just cant do the job.

Awesome...sorted..New panard rod bushes for me.

From what i believe, you cant get offset panhard bushes, you will just replace them with a similar item, i believe it is also better to replace them with factory rubber bushes, if you diffs are sitting slightly off centre now its lifted, you may be up fro adjustable panhards forn and rear to bring it all back and centred under the 4by,
