Is this a 2000 Pajero?

I'm very confused... I thought that after about 1997 the Gen 2 Pajeros all had the boxy guards and updated headlights. Like this one below.

However, I keep coming across 2000 Pajeros advertised as NLs, and looking like the pre 1997 shape?!

I actually asked the seller of the one below and he showed me the rego paper, with the year 2000 clearly on it. But to me it looks like the earlier model?!?!

Were the 2000 models sold with the earlier body shape or something?

Base model NL Pajeros look like the white Pajero in the photo where-as the 'upper models' (GLS & Exceed) look like the dark blue one in the photo.

I hope this helps

That helps immensely! Thanks

Apart from 'luxury' items like cruise control or leather seats etc, are there any fundamental mechanical differences between the two? i.e. LSDs etc?

Hi Andres

LSDs are standard across the range for NL, but the lower spec models have smaller front brakes. They also lack the flared guards which help to cover taller/wider tyres. The later models come with 16x7" alloys which will take 32" tyres without trouble. The cheaper models have smaller wheels, which (in my opinion) limits the choices for decent touring tyres.

There's a reasonable description of the NL range (and the rest of the Pajero range) at http://www2.pajeroclub.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=8. I also have a PDF of a brochure for the NL, which I think came from the Pajero Club forum - either search there, or PM me an email address.

Cheers,

Scott
