Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey all,

Iv got 2 T25 turbos and i am wanting to put 1 onto my 1hz motor running about 6-10 pounds of boost, just woundering if this will damage the engine being that its a non turbo engine, its had a motor rebuild but no idea how long ago but it dont blow no smoke or anything. runs 100 percent.

Ha mate i have a standar 1hz running a td05h turbo and dts top mount intercooler from mtq. Put the turbo on with 180000k's on it, (compression test 95%) and it now has 215000 stil running like it was when i first got it put on, touch wood!!!. so i wouldn't have a problem with putting it on espicually with the rebuild

never agood idea with standard internals but has been done hard to expect it to have along life but 10psi isnt much,but its better to be here for a good time not a long time

That's a very small turbo for that engine. It'll work but a bigger turbo won't choke the life out of the top end.

I run a T25 on a 3.9 litre Isuzu, the displacement isn't much different but mine spends almost it's entire life between 1500-2500rpm and the 1HZ's rev a lot higher.

T28 or GT2560R is a better match.

thanks guys i just rang the turbo place he recommended a T3 he said the T25 will do more hard than good, said it will maybe even make it loose power by putting it on so not a good idea looks like ill need a T3 or somthing like that.

i had a similar size turbo on a 1hz. it wen't very good down low but ran out of legs at 2800-3000 rpm, it also killed fuel economy and had high egt's

The guy i spoke to at turbo tech seem to think if anything i would loose power and not gain nothing so i take it as a bad idea but i dunno bout if i put 2 on? and how id go about putting two on i suppose it would work but does anyone no for sure??

Two will be way too big.
The T28's are roughly 25-35% bigger than the T25, that's about right. Twice the size is too much.

so what is the size differance to the t28s or the t4s??

T4's seem to cover a huge range. If you find one I'll see if I can find a map for it.

how would i set up a twin turbo system anyways, the turbo tech guy said it will work just have to run low psi, about 5 per turbo he was in a rush so didt say much more not to sure what the go would be.

i bit on the expensive side for second hand.

yeh m8 i no but is all the kit there like would i need to buy anthing eles for it

you'll have to ask him.

you need turbo, manifold, oil line pressere side and fittings to conn to oil gallery, oil drain hose, some heater hose and tee's

then you will need an exhaust and a bung brazed into your sump for oil return.

thats off the top of my head i may of forgotten something

and you'll need all of the intake plumbing too........ and then you'll want a cooler!!!!

i can buy most the other stuff easy like all the lines and ts and stuff and even air intake just gotta work out the exhaust should be able to use mine and just have a peice bent up to fit

About $100 more than the manifold.

so i could pick up a turbo and mainifold and all other bits for inder 500 bucks??

i just rang wreakers and they want about 1400 for turbo with mainfold and stuff, factory one i think.

i paid $1600 for the proper brand new turbo and manifold but it was a couple of years ago.

yeh well from what i can find m8 cheapest one is about $2500 correct me if im wronge can someone give me links of cheaper turbos...

call mtq engine systems in laverton, vic. i a bought turbo and manifold only, nothing else.


in my opinion IF you want to go second hand it would want to be very cheap. 2nd hand is an unknown and has no warranty
