Here are some pics of an LJ in the process of a rebuild from our club.

Old Man Emu rear springs all round

36' Super Swampers
beadlocks
Vitara power Steering
F&R lockrites
Will have tubed rear cage, side rails ainto front fenders & stinger

it was a spring over but we changed it back as it works better this way! With the springover it was getting massive axle wrap and steering was a concern, by going back to spring under it still gets nice flex, is more stable, steering is fine and axle wrap is pretty much gone. For our sort of wheeling in Vic a SPOA is not needed (Let the flaming begin
)

they have all worked for me!
also, my friend had a 1 litre sierra, and he used to drive it pretty hard, it had a 1 litre and stocko tyres with flipped rims:
within a few short months, he broke the gearbox, transfer case, one of the diffs, and a rear axle
this is with stocko tyres, i honestly dont think that ANYTHING you do can keep it together with 36s on suzuki axles, unless old man winter is driving the thing, or he never finishes it!!

there are plans for the axles when they break. Granted they're not the strongest at the moment but that can be fixed.
I'm not saying SPOA don't work but in this case it wasn't wanted, SPUA will do just fine. The same goes for mine I'm running 34s with only a 2.5" lift and 2" body lift, keep it low and go go go
as to your mate with the 1 litre breaking everything he must be a really good driver to do that
I have run a variety of tyres upto 34s all on stock axles with either a Lockrite, welded or ARB and never broken anything. It has done mainly mud, water and rutted climbs without a drama. granted if it was on a super high traction surface breakage maybe an issue. You really don't need to cane it that much that you're breaking 1 litre

i never said anything about SPOA or SUA lower is better in my book, keep it low and cut it!
yeah, just got the impression it was notoriously weak gear, but then again i was talking to a guy on the weekend who wheels VERY hard, 33" muds, and never broken anything but a shockie!!
its all about maintenance and correct setup of your trunion bearings, apparently!

A guy called Mick. He is basically doing a complete rebuild to fix all the dodgy stuff that was on it when he bought it. Like using a tent pole to extend the steering shaft
It was basically bootie fab central on most of the suspension and steering, hence all the changes

it is all wokring for me
although that honestly looks like a hilux axle and i dont know WHY you need to swap that under there, considering you can run such big tyres on stock LJ running gear?
at least, adjust the shims on that front axle...DAMN!!

its true, i have been spoiled, 30 spline 1.31" axles stock, awesome strength!!
ive seen a coiled sierra on 31" muddies and rear ARB snap an axle, and i drove right through on 35" mud terrains
stocko 60 series wagon axles!
