challenger clunks

Me again,

My Challenger auto has a habit that has me bluffed. After braking and coming to a stop there is a heavy sounding but muffled clunk through the floor when brakes are released.. sort of a wind up/release situation. The thump sounds to be about in line with the front seats... it it likely to be a problem with the front suspension bushes ??? as the front brakes do most of the work.. a gearbox mount going soft ( they look fine and not oil covered to me ) or a weight distribution and release thump from the rear trailing arms ?? the bushes there look fine too.
The Challenger has had 98 000 ks of highway only use and done absolutely no off road or serious towing work.
It is not a downchanging transmission thump .. it feels "looser".
Do Challengers chop out mounts ???
Thanks

My challenger is a 2001 coil spring LS automatic... probably all the LS were auto.

i get some thumps out of mine but that is the shackles, not going to affect you.
have a look at the stearing idler arm, mine was replaced at about 100k and
it was really flogged out.
failing that you might have to crawl under it with a tyre leaver and see if you can move something.
maybe have a look at the engine mounts, another thought do you have a factory cd stacker under the seat, mine fell out and moved around a bit.

good luck.
