Run on premium fuel, extractor, K&N air filter/ snorkel, 2 1/2 inch system with turbo muffler, new large leads/ignition coil, keep it tuned (the points love changing) Either that or electric ignition such as pertronics.
Apart from that not alot, unless you start moding motor, diff gears for larger tyres etc happy to be told different
Cheers Mick

Is a cam swap a head off job on these things?
I havent read about anyone doing one on here.

PGS do a regrind on the original cam, and it's a head off, job.
Son has his TB42 in pieces at the moment.

Premium fuel does not provide any additional power - it contains less power (BTU) per litre than 91RON - it does provide knock resistance which allows you to run greater spark advance / slightly more air - i.e. turbocharging.

thats why i run premium, ramped up the advance, and changed the tuning, and run it on premium

2.25" exhaust produces more torque.

Even in N/A motors the ability to run optimum spark advance means an increase in power and economy. The ability to run more advance means more torque, lower EGT's, improved economy. The engines efficiency is better.
Even though is it a turbo I got my wifes BF XR6 turbo from 12.3 to 11.1 litres pr 100k by redoing the spark tables at part throttle, as well as a big increase in part throttle performance. Thats driving from Frankston to the city in peak hour every day with no change in fuel mixture.

rwkw figures would be good.!
cheers!

No argument with modified ignition timings which requires premium fuel - but premium fuel it often touted as a performance enhancer with no other mods etc. The original post mentioned nothing of timing modification - only advocated the use of premium - in which case you're better off saving your bucks and buying 91RON or E10

My old shortie, pre turbo days with electronic ignition, and a 3" exhaust made 82 rwkW with a Gasresearch s400 carby, I've built a few carby hotties that on straight petrol got to 95-97 rwkW but duel fuel tends to knock 10-12 rwkW out of that. A tuned EFI GQ petrol with the right cam can make 110-115 rwkW without any discernable loss in low down torque.
I wouldn't use E10, it is highly corrosive and will over time eat the lining out of tanks, fuel lines, injectors and so on. The government in their infinite wisdom has decided that 10% ethanol causes an acceptable amount of wear over the life of a vehicle, they may differ in what we think is the life of a vehicle. E85 vehicles in the US run specific fuel systems of stainless steel for this.
