Hey all, did a search but couldnt come up with anything. Looking at a 2.4 deisel lux, dont know much about these motors, and just want some info on things to be wary of, and problems with these motors. Thanks in advance.

I think the one thing to worry about is the head gasket, think this can be fixed is whack one in off a 2.8.

IMHO, STOP! Look at a 2.8.
I had an '85model and the motor was cactus at 310 000. Put in another motor with 200 000, and they both blew a shite-load of smoke. They overheated constantly aswell. I've heard bad wraps from other 2.4 owners aswell. Everything that was wrong probably could have been fixed but I wanted a truck for wheeling not fixing.
Again, IMHO Hilux's are awesome if they are looked after properly. But they are said to be unbreakable, and often get abused and neglected and this is when they break.
So try and find a 2.8 that has been looked after, otherwise take someone who knows what they're looking at.
Maybe I just bought a lemon cause I didn't really know what I was looking at, needed a truck quick, looked at it and fell in love instantly. But I wouldn't buy a 2.4 again.
