well i got informed today at work also got the paper work that some Landcriuser 200 series are going to have a recall very shortly regarding the Toyota Genuine front bar what happens is the chassis cracks not sure where and how bad though im going to have to read up on it abit more.
so just giving you all a heads up on this issue.
also some aftermarket oil filters can start breaking apart inside possibly causing damage to the engine again i havent read my paper work as yet but ill get onto that as soon as i get a spare min in the next couple days.

we used to get warranty engines sent back to Toyota from the dealers when I used to work in QC that had those white el cheapo oil filter fitted to corolla and camry engines....they dont filter the oil no where near as good as the factory toyota ones and within a very short amount of kilometres, like less than 2,000 since the oil change the oil itself starts breaking down and getting thick and mucky and causing the motor to overheat and seize.
if aftermarket filters where used, we would void the warranty once the engine was stripped and we could pinpoint that the oil filter was the cause.
Its always been the case, and that was 10 years ago.
the chassis crack incident is interesting, as Prado's have them too with bullbars fitted and I have heard some FJ cruiser in the states too, same chassis.
touch wood the hilux's are still ok.

Were these the same camry engines that Toyota USA did a massive swap out due to oil sludge caused by "high thermal gradients" in the oil system?
Time frame fits, car type fits, oil filters can't cause sludge.

100 series had a similar recal on thier factory bars when used in winching applications
Under "severe" winch load the chassis can crack.
They issued a recal and replaced the brackets that hold the bar on or something.
Mine has had it done (by previous owner).
