hj75 clutch problem, advice needed

I have searched and can'y find what i'm after.

The clutch in my hj75 troopcarrier has a really short take up, ie: push the clutch in and it only takes about an inch for it to engage, never slips etc and otherwise works well but you have to concentrate when changing gears.

I have bled it and no air bubbles came out and made no difference, so how do you work out which is the problem?

Is it the clutch cylinder thing on the firewall? or the other one on the side of the gearbox that is at fault, i assume one will need replacing or a kit /seals thru it but don't know how to work out which one is at fault.
I also assume it's not the clutch itself as it works fine just the short take up. I can't see any other way of adjusting it.

Cheers Dave.

hey mate i had a really short clutch on my fj 73 there is a bolt that winds in and out that will adjust it i cant say where it is but that is what mechenic told me when they worked on mine. mine was really short then they replaced it with a normal size one. then when i drove it it was coming out the full distanst to ingage but i didn't like it so i got then to make it shorter took them like 2 min under the dash so shouldn't be too costly unless they need to replace it because it is too small. hope that helps

get someone to push the clutch pedal down while you watch the slave if it throws out ie moves, go to the clutch pedal under the dash ,their will be a bell with a nut on it that attaches to the pedal, undo the nut wind the bell up or down trying the pedal after a couple of turns ,when it feels better do the nut up ,clutch might just be alittle older and need an adjustment

in the above pick its the rod play adjustment point , when you undo the nut u may have to wind the metal rod with thread on it that joins the pedal, mine was short in my lj70 i had to go to the wreckers and get alonger bell the bit that is pinned to the pedal fixed it right up

 Thanks to all, i managed to get time to work on it today and with the diagram and the description from beinthemud all is now well and feels like it should have originally, really simple once you know what to adjust  , now to get it registered and off road.
