This is new portal conversion was at Sema08 it was rated as the coolest new off-road product by Peternson's 4wheel & offroad. Hopefully something simular will be made locally for our market and it will be cheaper than getting full portal diffs.

Very nice. Would be good for Rover Salisburys and Ford 9" also.

I'm guessing that you'd want to be sitting down when they tell you the price.

$12k per end and still Rover strong. :?

These ones have a 1,5" 35spline input and an even bigger output.

How much they worth. I can dream can'nt I ? Wonder if you could build up a pair of axles and have them engineered like marks patrol portals. So larger tyres could be run Qld legally.

$8k is getting closer to the mark.... considering a properly done lift with all replacement arms, lines, springs, shocks etc can get clsoe to the $5K mark, plus reduction gears or diff gears to compensate for bigger tyres and it still aint legal... If you can get 4" here and reduction for larger tyres and get it engineered for under $10K it could be looking good...

Did I mention that for that $25k Unimog purchase price, you get 100% road legal 42's and a 368:1 crawl ratio that will still cruise at 80kmh+ ?

Thats why you buy a headlight lowering kit.
And its cheap, you wont need to do anthing with your suspension, portals will not affect the dynamics of your setup at all.

Ahh, so you're saying I should call my fog lights my headlights and my headlights my driving lights?

only thing with portals is that it limits you comps, as some say no portals. but if you dont compete tit would be an insane trail rig!!

Which comps don't allow portals?
Not having a go, just curious as Im about to put Mogs under my Lux.
In WA we have no such rules (as yet) but my plan was to get over and do a few comps in East one day (pending sponsors :) )

Yeah but their rules change on a whim.

As long as the portals are on a Nissan they should be fine.

My personal opinion and I don't think that any reasonable person would believe it to be correct, regardless of how correct it may be.

You can't run aftermarket portal in Xtreme or SSS winch challenge

What about outback challenge. Would be awesome to see some cars running 37's (or whatever the max tyre size is) on portals. Though, having never seen any in the event i doubt it

Portals are
