Hey people

Iv got a problem with my alternator in my 1989 suzuki sierra with the G13B motor.
It was all working ok until i pulled it of the mounts to try and put a bigger one on. it didnt work out because of the size so i decided to put the orginal one back on.
Then i realised it was overcharging by sending 14.8+ volts out.
So i thought the regulator was gone in the alternator and went out and bought a reconditioned one. installed it and it is still overcharging.

So i then tried installing the bigger one with the help of a mate and it works fine with no overcharging problems. the pulleys dont really line up so i want to go back to how it was but i dont know wats wrong with it.
Could it be the wiring from the alternator?
They have the main charging wire then a plug with 2 wires going into the loom.

Any help would be appreciated please. really need help.

Cheers
Mark

Quick question - Why did you try fit a bigger one in the first place? What do you need it to run?

14.8V sounds ok.

From memory your alternator needs to put out at least 13.6V to charge a battery.

Feel free to correct me though.

14.8 is too high Dad, will most likely cause damage.

yeh my original one which had some sort of problem has fixed itself and sits at 14.1 to 14.2 which is excellent

dunno what went wrong in the firstplace though
unbolted it off the pulley and when i put it back on it was stuffed.
then yesterday put it back on and all good so.....
