im chasing a new motor-box-transfer combo to replace the daihatsu gear.
At the moment id like to go auto, but dont want to spend $ on adapters etc.
chasing a list of possible cheap combo's.
- a whole hilux drivetrain ( any auto??)
- Holden v6/8, t700 and cruiser transfer

I second that....would be a sweet conversion for the daihatsu and easy to set up.

Not sure, They would be close. You could possibly go a suzuki GV V6 with matching box and tranny?
I looked at dropping a 3rz-fe into my zook...would have been lots of fun but too much modding to be worth it. I could imagine in a daihatsu that the 3rz-fe would fly...nice revvy engine, more than enough poke for the average yob and easy to go lux diffs upgrade in the future as well.

the rocky weighs in about 1800kgs.
3rz would be cool, but have no idea if it comes with auto and transfer.
patrol divorced case doesnt have low enough gearing for me, and no aftermarket options ( gears way down the line)
currently on patrol 4.6 diff gears but want to go way slower

V6 commy, with factory commy auto ,computer, harnesess & wiring looms = $ 500ish, marks adaptor =$1800ish then hilux tranie = $300ish the next issue is hand brake. was the rocky H/Brake off the trannie or rear brakes,if off the rear breaks the above setup willbe fine if off the trannie then use a nissan GQ auto & trannie, alot stronger & for sale in outers for$1000,
this setup will be powerfull enough for your needs & will still break diffs, cv's, axels ect. or you could go the V8 versi, you still break stuff but quicker,,,
I stoped breaking stuff in mine when I went to GU running gear.

you can get 4.8 or 5.12's and one even lower from the Icelandic trucks that run 44's stock for patrol diffs.
