SJ80 Lift kit

hows it going, ive just bought a little coil sprung SJ80 wide track sierra and im trying to find a half decent lift kit for it but im really struggling to find anything over 40mm.

any ideas where i might be able to find something for it?

That's because the coil sierra isn't really able to be lifted more than 40mm without lots of work.

I'd stick to 40mm and run a 2" body lift. This will let you run as much tyre as you can gear in a coiler anyway.

Bigger lifts have been done but they don't generally result in a car that handles very well or is reliable in the long term.

We have a set of 100mm castor corrected heavy duty front arms, brand new if anyone wants them. $700 NZD.

you will find that with a 40 mm lift, 2 inch body and some 30 inch muddies you will go further than most bigger trucks, it surprised me how easily i drive some stuff and my dads patrol struggles, like the others have said you will have more trouble and $$ than wat its worth if you go bigger unless you go all custom but its still alot of work.
the 40mm lift flexes alright to, hers a pic of mine with it and a 2inch body lift.

i think mudbits is saying the Castor is set for a 100mm lift, so if you got them, some stronger rear arms some 4 inch springs for the rear and some sort of spring and strut combo for the front.

check out those bilsteins (5100 series height adjustable http://www.bilstein.com/offroad.php#5100pre would have to work out which one suited coily height and if any do) i pm'd you about they might be a go i think a 40mm - 50mm spring and those struts with the adjustable coil seat could give you a decent setup. I think if you got a set of lifted springs from the rear of a jimny and then adjusted the seats up at the front you could get it to sit level and suit the castor correction in those arms.

so for a 4 inch spring lift without changing any mounts (this theory is untested)

100mm castor front arms.
2 inch / custom front coils
adjustable coil seat bilsteins
lifted jimny rear springs (http://www.4wd1.com/suzuki_jimny.htm maybe 80mm plus poly spacers or something i dunno)
extended brake lines
stronger rear arms (mudbits can you get these)
reinforce rear control arm brackets on diff
reinforces front strut towers ( hole rips out)
Poly bushes in rear to increase roll stiffness
rubber bushes in front to keep it at a lower roll stiffness

I think this would be pretty indestructible and wish i had seen the bilsteins to try before cutting my mounts off. LIKE I SAID JUST A THEORY

apparently jimny front springs also fit coily fronts i have no idea what kind of lift they provide or anything though

where can i get front coil's 4 my sierra 2" lift ?? can find them anywhere????

Its not as easy as getting 50mm raised coils. Hopefully you have been reading above. Coils are available but what will you use for shocks in the front?
My advice for anyone wanting big coily lifts is to try 30 to 40mm Kings first then a 2" body lift then and only when your sure you like your coily go to a Jimny front setup with a WT front diff. Just my thoughts on it all. Or what im doing now - Bundera diffs :)

40mm is close enough to 2" - I'd be happy with that.

Really, coilers have poorly designed suspension if you are chasing lift and flex.

certainly is harder i think once there is a method to it might be able to get some better results i dunno.

the jimny front seems to be the go when your getting a bit more serious,

it all ready has a 2" lift but the front coil's and shock's are fucked so i just really need 2 replace them but just dont know where 2 start 2 find them

Hi mudmeup, can you post a close up photo of your front struts so i can see what they have done to get this 2" lift? And the vehicle so i can see ride height.

i was just lookin then when i took the pic's and i think they mite just be standard coil's and them block lookin thing's on the bottom of the coil must be there i am gettin my hight from ?? dident really notice them be 4

Looks like you do have 2" of lift alright. They have extended the brackets on the diff to do this. It looks like you may have the 30mm lifted springs already too. Are you able to read the numbers on the spring? Possibly KSFR......Should be written on the wire in little black writing. And also can you read the writing on the shocks? This may be stamped in and possibly will be KYB...... This will help me see what you currently have.

thank heap's i couldn't see anything the other day but now im only lookin 4 only 3omm lift it mite be alot easier i guess ill just rip them out and go from there thanx
