Hi all.
does anyone know if you can get a difflock for a lj sierra, or if their diff centres are the same as a 1lt sierra?

Sorry Joe, I'm not about to put my c()ck on a block over this......but I thought they were different, willing to be told otherwise.
Some European model LJ80's came out with a cable actuated difflock, though I think it was only for the rear end.
Failing that just lock the bastard CIG style, worked a treat for mine.....it was the one on Funniest Home Videos, last saturday night!

Thought about that but i cant do that.. its not actually either of these im doing it to.. since i cant get a decent 4wd(im talking my standards and needs here) at this point im buying a 99 and up suzuki carry ute 4wd/awd.. i used to own the same style van and when we blew the diff up from skids i worked out they are exactly the same as a lj centre just different ratios.

Dano.
well yes and no !
all germans suzuki ( the ones with brake drum on the t-case ) have a locking
device for the rear diff. .
witch is a parking device !!!!
the german legislation says the park break must be applied on both of the
rear wheels . since there's a split with the diff. .
so yes it's locker .... but not for the heavy right footer !!!
some guys in norway i believe , modified it to make it stronger .
the system itself is proven , simple and effective .
the teeth that engage the sleeve into the diff. needs to be deeper and wider .
i have one in my lj , it's been working fine so far ....

Narrow Track - eariler than the middle of 1988 for us here in australia.
After mid 1988, sierra's were fitted with a rear wheel handbrake, so they didn't require the locker.

tHey don't look factory- I assume they are NZ made?
Apparently Toney roberts, who built the roberts diff lock, which became the ARB Air Locker, used to do LJ50 lockers in the late 70's. I've never seen the advertised, and my 4WD magazine reading only goes back to the early/mid 80's where I think he was only advertising toyota applications.

Like Joe says, 1 litre Lockright. I used Lockright 1520 in my LJ50 (also installed them in my mate's LJ50) front and rear in both cars. There's a slight difference in the carriers from LJ to 1 litre and this caused the first Lockright to smash into tiny pieces. You need to use 1 litre carriers in LJ diff centres (to get the ratio) and if you can get Stockman back end you shouldn't break so many axles as they're the same size as Sierra rear, if not you'll need to use 2 1 litre front carriers and stock up on axles. I would prefer a cable locker but that was too hard to make. Tried welded for a while but twisted 2 Stockman axles with a 2 stroke motor. Also it used to "bind" the driveline on really big rocks (lack of differentiation) and stall the little 2 stroke. No such probs with Lockrights.
So Joe any info on the LSD ? Is it Carry?
