I've got 33x12.5/15 and I'm really happy with them. The are actually pretty quiet on the tar and great in the dirt.

Thats the size I'm getting.....How are they on rock and in mud.
The Buckshots I've got now are great on rock (softish compound) but crap in mud.

The bighorns have great sidebiters and grab well on wheel tracks. I found they chip rubber if you dont air down on rocks and shale. Havent had a chance to try them out in mud as it hasnt rained here for a looooong time. I think there may be some this weekend when I head out on Saturday. The tread depth is 26mm which is great they should take ages to wear down.

I found them advertised on Ebay new for $245. I took the add to my tyre dealer and asked him to price match. All up it was about $1300 for a set of 5 fitted balanced and freight.

I've got them on my truck , 33 x 12.5 x 15,on 15 x 8 sunnies, a bit noisy on the road but grip all right on it, not bad in the sand handled Fraser alright, work well in the mud :D , haven't used them on the tracks yet cause I got to change rims, I've got Cruiser off set ones and want to go back to Patrol ones to stop them scrubing, to wide for lift at the moment.

if you are lookign at getin a 31"-33" then i seriously urge you to consider the khumo kl71. around the same price as the maxxis but IMO better traction on all surfaces, quieter and from all the extreme stuf i have done on mine seem to be imposible to tear/damage

i have them in a 305/7016 and one of my mates has them in a 33/12.5/15 and they have been awesome tyres for both of us.

for an all round tyre and the price you cant go past em'. have had a sidewall split on one, but probably would have happened to almost any tyre. decent tread life too.

They are great on road, I've got them in the 31" from when Ryano initially advertised them. I've found them great in all situations. They are a directional tyres also.

They bag very well, ran mine a 15psi for a few days on the beaches of robe and they performed excellently. In one bad situation to extract our selves and climb and nasty short steep climb I let them down to 5psi and did it easy.

X2 bag well

Ive seen those kumho's on a customers car they look like "poser" rubber a real pretty pattern. probably great on the tar though ;)

The Kumhos are great both on and offroad, swapped back to my BFG's for a trip and in comparison they sucked, went straight back to the Kumhos - the only issue I have with them is that they wear reasonably quickly.

I originally swapped the BFGs for the trip because the set I have a slightly larger in diameter for the same size tyre thus giving me a bit more clearance under the diffs

in my experience.

when comparing kl71 and maxis bighorn i found the kl71 better on road, better in mud and better on rock. and so far i have been unable to put a mark on the kl71 on dozens off different sharp rocky extreme tracks.

Slighlty off topic here, but has anyone tried the Maxxis Trepadores in a 31'? The only reason I ask is becuase I was originally planning on getting the Bighorns but can get a set of Treps for only a few dollars more.
How do they Trepadores go for wear?

I'll quote you again just incase someone missed one of your posts. :P

The KL71 is a directional tyre. Stuff that on a 4wd. No such thing as a matching spare unless you buy 6 of them!

Cool looking rubber though.

what are you talking about if you did have to run one backwards as a spare it would only be temporary until the the other tyre was repaired /replaced that is a piss poor reason not to buy a directional tyre and if directional tyres were no good tyre companies like maxxis, simex, mickey thompson and interco would not make them .

and from my experience most people only buy 4 tyres when they get new rubber and dont really care about there spare even if it is a different size let alone if it had to run in the wrong direction . it just a fact people dont wat to spend $300 plus on a new tyre to hang off the back of there cars .

this thread is going to crap like all the other tyre threads which are filled with rumors and hear say from keyboard driving web wheelers that dont have a clue .

Why is it a piss poor reason? I can think of many reasons why I personally would avoid purchasing a directional tyre as my spare. So much so that I went and bought myself a matching spare! So you disagree or have different thoughts on the matter. Want me to express post a pack of tissues? :P

You bring up an excellent point of discussion though. Uses. Directional tyres sure do have their place and each manufacturer makes a tyre to suit everyone's personal preferences and uses. Which is why I agree its hard to have a proper tyre comparison thread. I also think its very hard (for 4wd owners especially) to compare different types of tyres when we have such a large variety of variables which directly affect how a tyre performs. Different sizes will have different construction, different vehicles have different weights, different drives will drive differently, different locations have different terrain types etc..

When I was looking around about a year ago, they were going for about $235 from a place in brissie, Murrarie IIRC.

No doubt they've gone up :bad-words:
