rough motor shut off hilux

hey guys i hate a 1996 hilux 2.8D ln106 just wondering has any1 got any ideas on why when i turn it off the motor shuts off realli rough like jolts to the side alot need to fix it as im putting a cab lift in and worry will hit something lol cheers

have you checked the engine mounts out ?

mine used to bang when shut down and one of the exhaust mounts was too long and tapped the chassis side rail when the motor shuddered.
check out your mounts as well, but it is also normal for there to be a fair bit of movement when it turns off.

The 5L (3.0L) had a butterfly in the intake to allow for 'soft shutdown'. I assume it choked the engine slowly instead of abruptly shutting off the fuel?
...so i suppose, partly, it's always been an L-series thing
Otherwise I'd suspect it could be trying to run-on for some reason. How many km? Smokey? (what colour? at idle/under power/when taking off?) Injectors/pump been serviced at any stage? edit: timing?

I just had a similar problem it was rough on start up and shut down . Turned out it was a timing issue.

oh ok its due for timing belt to b done. its got 325 on it injectors n everything been done i cant tell if there is anything wrong with the mounts as yet what should i look for sorry guys only new at this shit

Yeah i had the same problem mate.
Turned out being a buggered engine mount...
