OK, I've never had any probs with the ol' "Check engine" light b4, so have never really looked at it. Anyway, mine seems to differ from those I've seen posted b4, so thought I'd stick up a pic in the hope somebody can save me a bit of stuffing around trying to work this out.
This is how it's usually represented:
-----
|6 1|-
|5 2|
|4 3|-
-----
...but mine only seems to have 5 pins.....any clues??? i.e. which are pins 1 and 2??

AJ that plug is totally different to mine. It must be a case of the later model Ferozas having a slightly different EFI system.

Are you having trouble with your new Applause engine throwing fault codes? If so then try swapping all your sensors from the old engine onto the new one.
Also remember the Applause has a different cam and distributor advance curve to the Feroza HD-E. A friends Applause also had a different set up for the aircon idle up with no adjustable idle solenoid like my Feroza has!?

Main problem is I can't identify which are pins 1 & 2 on the diagnostics plug in order to read the fault code....if anybody can help me with that, I'm cruisin'.

Have you tried checking the wires and the plugs at the ECU to see if they're the same as the manual? If they are, then just check which pins the diagnostic wires are supposed to come out of and use a multimeter to trace the wires up to the diagnostic plug.*
*
note: I take no responsibility whatsoever if you manage to fry your entire electrical loom from following the above procedure........ However, having said that, I have successfully used the said procedure to identify the diagnostic pins on a Hyundai Excel with which I had the same problem......

Awright, then let's try this one, anybody know the correct timing settings for the Applause Donk???
BTW, I got my injectors cleaned and spent waaaaaaaaaay too much money on some platinum spark plugs today...goes nicely on the motorway now
....oh, what a feel!!! *
*It's almost a Toyota
Still haven't sorted the ECU prob though.

Try setting the timing to 3 degrees BTDC with the vacuum advance disconnected; then find a steep hill you can attack in second and third gear flat out. If you don't get any pinging then advance it a bit further etc. Pinging will always be worse on a hot day - so don't max the timing out on a cool day.
