auto locking hub problem, i think

hey guys, on the first drive of the day in 2wd once i get between 70km/hr and 100km/hr i get an awful noise which i think is comming from the drivers side front wheel. if i slow down to about 10km/hr the noise goes away with abit of a thud and rearly comes back.
any thoughts?
