Im needing a set of tyres for my patrol and im wondering where is the best, actually the cheapest place to get some? (easier to justify to the mrs!) Im thinking either Goodyear wranglers, BFG KM2's or a set of Mickey T's in 315/75/16's (are they to big for a standard steel GU rim?)
Where do you guys get your tyres? here in country vic they seem pretty dear so it might be worth a trip to Melb!

What's expensive? I got a set of MTZs in 305/70/16 for $330 a tyre about 18 months ago. 315s were about $350 i think and that was the best deal I could find.

There was a 10-20% increase in November
Beaurepairs in Clayton did right by me few days before the price rise, $50per cheaper than other places.
the dude there Darryl ( I think) is a wheeler himself.

Ring around Melb for prices and then go to Tyrepower in Traralgon, I used to get some good deals there, when I lived down that way.

Widetread in Ferntree Gully (or Lilydale).
I find them to be the cheapest around.

Best price I got was Lindsay's Tyres, but the guy down the road was $10 more for the set so I went with that as it woulda cost that in fuel & effort to get over too Lindsays.
Lindsays were Lots cheaper than everywhere else I tried, including Widetread, which is a shame as they were always the best near me.

Yeah, as said above, speak to Dave at Lindsays tyres in Mt Ev.
He is on this site with the username Mudempire, or something like that.
Great prices and service, he makes sure the tyres balance up as good as possible, which is more than can be said about some of the larger chain stores.

If Dave can't help you, you can give me a call. I can help with the Mickey Thompson tyres and can point you in the right direction re: freight/pickup etc. We are in Mornington.
