This nutter is aiming for 100hp in one (he may be there, I haven't read the thread in 12 months)
http://www.tamon.org/forum/viewtopic.ph ... dc4b937f05

Noticed one day in the traffic that a carry chassis is very similar to a Sierra chassis
Lay the engine over (20 degrees I think) whack a carry cab on and you got a minimog

Sitting right over the front axle would make for some wide eyed white knuckled descents

This has got me interested.

My research shows I can get a low km model, with xfer case and rear diff lock landed in Aus for about $3500.

23" tyres are tiny. Even the easiest tracks would be fun!
If I ever get bored with it, a set of WT axles could slot in nicely ;)

Be a fun view of the track from the front of one of those. Especially on steep downhill runs!

Should be a good camping vehicle (for 2) - perhaps even a rooftop tent on the back tray.

This was my plan only a few weeks ago with the aus model, we cannot get any of the newer jap models over here.

Ours are awd but were not avail with difflocks or lowrange/ selectable 4wd (99 up).

cheers mark

Alot of the ones pictured above are known as "KEI" trucks in japan.
because of their size they dont have to pay rego over there.
But america is buying them all up, they get them in by the container load, stacked on top ove each other.

Theyre getting big over there because theyre the same price as an ATV but it has a heater and is enclosed and can carry more.
But they cannot be registered in america and therefore all being used on farms and by shooters, hence the atv tyres.
My cousin looked into importing them, he has a subaru sambar its 4wd. it has a 4wd low selector button and i climbed a steep mound in it and the ratio's seems very low. it has a rear mount engine on top of the rear wheels and handles like a gokart on the road.

Not anymore the EPA wont let them in to america anymore,There was a big thing on Zuwharrie.com. A few weeks ago as the guy that imported them had a boat load sent back to japan. And he went bankrupt

Just import a cab
Get a sierra chassis (carry and sierra chassis look very similar)
Lay the engine over (check in the link I posted above)
You got a carry with the good running gear (transfer, gears and wt locked diffs)
Whack on some 33s and have fun
