Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have lifted my 60 about 5 inches from where it was and when i aligned it i found the specs all great, except for the caster it had dropped significantly.
before specs were left +0.10' and on the right +0.40' : after left was -2.40' and the right was -2.20'.
I thought about it for ages as i am a frugal person (read tight!) and didnt want to pay for the shims to fix the caster, anyway after looking around for a while i looked at a pair of ford au XR 8 ute leaves and they had a caster wedge on the top and bottom of each leaf.... i measured them up and they are a near on perfect fit for the 60 all i had to do was bore the centre out 1mm and fit them.
read the alignment up after doing this (and having no idea where it will end up!) and my caster is right back where it started!
i just thought id share this with you guys...let me know if i have stuffed it somewhere!

Pretty sure caster shims are cheap as chips from spring works, instead of 4wd shops charging rather huge $$$ for them. Nice score though!

im just happy that it cost me nothing! im happy with the cost and figured that i would share it with you guys!
by the way i had 2 of the leaves out of the ford so i ended up with 4 of the wedges, if anyone wants the other 2 to try let me know!

5" lift, how does it ride now?

She rides pretty well, i was expecting the worst but its better than i thought! i think from standard its about a 4 inch lift as the old springs were down a bit. I used a bit of a mish mash of bits in it EFS springs front and rear with EFS long travel front shocks, in the rear i have GQ Patrol rear shocks Pedders brand Foam cells (free from a mate)& Pedders big bore dampner as well.
then it looked silly on the 31 inch tyres so i got the 35 inch mickey thompson mud tyres, and they are no where near as noisy as i expected! Im pretty happy overall with the ride and what the set up has cost so far. now all i have to do is get out and get the beast dirty!

Where are the pics?

Score on the rear GQ shocks. Valving should be very similar anyway. Rear 80 series also fit on the front. Again valving should be similar.

So you have EFS springs and extended shackles all around?

yeah all round is EFS springs and the extended anti inversion shackles, rides quite nice but the only driving i have done with it since the lift has all been local suburbs, nothing off road yet. It did wander a bit but that was due to the lost camber now feels nice on the road again.

I did look at what everyone else was using and went with the EFS because i got offered a great deal, the truck so far owes me about $3200 including purchase price, i am looking to upgrade (build my own) the rear bar and make a new spare wheel carrier that will cope with a 35" tyre as the funds become available. also looking at making an under bonnet compressor for air as soon as i get my hands on an air comp!

These forums have been heaps handy for ideas and tips, and i figure if i do most of the work and stuff it all up i have no one else to blame but myself!
