G'day guys a 80 series has just come up for sale up here and if i can get it for the right price i will be selling the trusty 75! This 80series is and 97 DX with the 1hz! Just a quick run down on what i want to do to it! and then some questions afterwards!
Engine : turbo, intercool and exhaust 3inch
TJM winch bar
tjm brush bars/sidesteps
TJM winch probly 12000
TJM 4,5 or 6inch lift
35inch tyres
front lockright locker
rear bar and spare tyre carrier!
Now thats the main things i want to do straight up! now Which lift is the best? and if so why? Is Which is better out of raw, ironman or tjm (these are the ones i can get cheap) I was thinking tjm would be better then the other two but i thought i might just ask! Seeing though i only have a 75 at the moment i am use to lifting wheels but im still good on side angles! How easy is it to go onto the roof on these angles with this type of lift? And with these lifts what needs to be done? My main type of 4x4in i preferre is crawling with lots of flex and up and down steep hills! so which would be the best lift for this?

80 series What i need to know!
1996 HZJ75RP, DTS turbo with 3inch exhaust, rear locker, MTZs, 2inch shackles, 2 inch custom packs!

first up 80s are great easy to modify....
As you can see by my details I am running something like you want to do.
My first suggestion is go with a rear locker first, the back end has more traction and stronger espically on step hills. Use Beaudesert exhausts for the 3 inch exhaust, worth the trip and the time.
After market Turbos are good but factory turbos are most certainly the better option if you can find one.
I run a old 6 inch lift (not certain which brand), now about 5 inch with Dobinson shocks which allow much better travel that the Ranchos and you do not need any pin to eye convertors.
I do not have any sway bars so she rocks and rolls a bit on the road but certainly much better wheel travel off road and never put it on its roof yet....
These are just my opinion and I am sure others will have their own..

Im going to probly go with a dts turbo because thats what i have on my 75 and it seems to work fine! if anyone has any other oppions about turbos i would like to hear them! If i go DTS it means i have to buy a exhaust as well! is there any mobs i should look at, that do a turbo and 3inch exhaustbolt on kits? or even turbo intercooler 3inch exhaust kits?

If you can only afford one locker then go for the rear as stinger said.
Back diff is stronger than the front. The LSD in the rear generally dosen't work very well for long so assume the rear is a single spinner.
When you go wheeling you can just flick the rear locker on and leave it on whilst out on the tracks, can't do this with the front.
This also gives you locked 2WD, which can be handy sometimes if you get stuck somewhere and you can't be bothered getting out to lock the hubs.

Thanks for that BJ73. I was thinking front So when you are climbing hills and you lift you will still keep equal power and drag yourself up! But i do surpose that pushing yourself up is no different! Never know i might just go front and rear! Going the Pro locker over the arb air! Just on price wise! got to love dating the daughter of a 4x4 TJM superstore owner!

I am not certain with people's fasination with lockers in front first. Maybe they have a good limited slip diff, but I am yet to see any make and model really limit slip when push comes to shove
If you love your hill climbing then all your weight transfers to the rear so if you can garantee equal drive to both rear wheels you will get the most out of available traction. The only down side is big steps one front wheel may not drive up the step, but same can be said for the rear.
The other thing if you want to save a few bucks is to check out the 4 sale section in here and e-bay, plenty of 80s parts locally for a price much better than new
