Stronger cv's for an 80

By the looks of things I might have exploded my cv's or diff on my 94 80 series. Bloody nasty noise when in high range for normal road driving. All this occured while off road. i'll know more tomorrow after an expection from my mechanic.
Anyone know where to get stronger than standard cv's from and what $$$ to be expected to pay for them?
Thanks for your time guys

Longfields.. or if that doesnt quite fit with your budget, i believe haultech may be able to sort you out (RUFF - even though he doesnt work there anymore can steer you in the correct direction) or the premium don kyatt ones, not necessarily stronger just good quality replacement.

For a budget replacment then a set of NTNs will be fine ( are Don kyatts just NTNs ?)

If you are silly enough to own a nissan then you will be silly enough to pay the asking price on nissan unwarrented CVs.

I belive theres a bit more to it than just the longfields if its a constant 4wd.
You also will need to change to a part time 4wd ect ect ect $$$$$

How come ?
Aren't they just a straight replacement for the factory ones ?
Why would you have to convert to part time 4WD ?

That thread is all about free wheeling hubs on part time 80 series.
There's no mention of having to convert your full time 4WD to part time to run Longfields. Actually, it seems like the full timers are better suited to Longs because that's the model they have in the States.

as it turns out I have crushed my diff and axle!!!! I am replacing the diff centre, drivers side axle, axle seal kit for left and right and finally the seals for the end gaskets!
Good stuff....not.
I wasn't doing anything crazy either, just heading slowly up a ledge and then bang, lost drive to the front wheels.
So a ride on the back of a flat bed truck, and now the rebuild.
good times, ah well these things happen when your out and about.

thats exactly what bobby told me. the mileage is poor.
So to spell it out for you if you run longfields in a constant 4wd you will need new one's about every 40'000 ks.
If you have any usefull info please post

Budget Replacement? The Stock Toyota 80series CV is an NTN and is only available through Toyota at $700+ each from memory.

Tony the last time i checked with Toyota it was a bit dearer than that. Don Kyatts will do Chinese and Japanese CV's.

I have no useful information. I was curious about why the conversion was required, now I know. I'll take my new found knowledge back to chit chat.
