my lux has a 4y petrol with '88 5 speed diesel box in it.
i took it out to glasshouse mtns on the weekend and on the way out there the hilux was runnin rough.
when we went out wheelin every time u went up even a slight hill it wont run properly.well my mate got stuck so i turned my car off and when i turned it back on it ran fine till u tried to take off and it died in the ass.didnt matter how high u revved the thing soon as clutch got pressure on it it woud stall but if u stop and start it again it works fine.
i hav tried it in 4wd hi,low and 2wd and it doesnt make a difference .
i dont hav the faintest where to start lookin but i was hopin u guys can help me out. i need it fairly urgently cus its my daily driver.

sounds like you have the dreaded powervalve issue which can plague 3y and 4y engines
oh its in the carby and is controlled by vacuum and if itleaks the car either floods or leans out when you poen the throttle
