vitara carby?

Which vitara carby is it that fits the 1.3L and wat has to be done to fit it?

I think i remember hearing that the 1.6l and 1.3l carbs are the same and bolt straight up. But i also remember hearing that the 1.6 litre carb was detuned and that the 1.3 carb was better.

But im not entirely sure.
are you wanting more power?

sort of, more chasing reliability as the stock 1.3l carb is rooted n conks out all the time

joe blow probably does know as i think he has mentioned it a couple of times. what is wrong with the 1.3 carby though? i find that mine is awesome on any angle and is reliable as any other car anyway

i have also heard that the 1.6 carb runs leaner ? wtf ? Not a performance upgrade thats for sure.

haha.....leaner..............wives tale.

ok....here we go again. the vitara carby is made my mikuni, who make some fantastic stuff as that is what they specialise in. they are the same bolt pattern as sierra, and have the same diameter top inlet. the models to get are the later versions with a seperate fuel feed for the foot pump on the side of the carby. the models that did not have these have a tendancy to flat spoy on left hand coners. feed the fuel line to the bowl as per standard sierra, then using the fuel return from the sierra pump hook this up to the foot pump feed, the outlet from the foot pump now becomes the new fuel return to the tank. you will also need to space the carby 'hat' 10mm above the carby as it will not sit flush. these carbs are very easy to rebuild and are pretty simple inside, though watch out there are some small springs and balls. ALL vit carbies wil burn rich if they have not been tuned. to gain the best performance and economy you must put it on a sniff tester and adjust the CO levels to the stated factory specs, the increase in performance is very noticable after this. also it has a bowl vent system which must be powered up to the solenoid wire when installing. there are some other tricks i do to the secondarys for added performance but its too early in the morning!

out of all the carbies i've tried- sigma-corrola-weber(the worst)-twin side drafts etc etc, the vit was the best performer and the most reliable, then i went to efi and never looked back. hope this has been of some help.

zook_fan hav u done much mud driving? after a day out in the mud my carby would never idle properly, then it gave up all together so i swapped it for another, now i hav the same problem again wont idle its coughs n splutters surges and stalls. ive tried cleaning it and it was fine for a few days but its stuffed. Wen there working there fine but i hear alot of people hav alot of the same troubles as me.

the subaru carbies of EA81 motors found in the early dual range ones have the same bolt pattern and are very similar. They dont stall up hills and are quite water resistant, they do run a bit rich tho and vacum lines can be a pita

yeah mate i have done about 5-6 day trips of all mud in which the carby went fine through. Hasnt ever even needed a clean (internally) after reco.

clean the carby out and put a filter in between the fuel pump and the carby.
i am gunna go to the next darwin4x4 run, if you go i can show you how
to clean them out dodgy style. works but.

the weber is also the easiest to sort for off road use.

running a floatless bowl will have them working perfectly at any angle

put the 2nd filter in and ive pulled the carby down, but i think its just 2 far gone thanks anyway
