Pneumatic beadlocks don't add any strength to the rim, but clamp the inner bead, prevent the rim hitting the ground in the event of a flat, a make airing up/down faster due to the smaller internal volume at pressure.

Mechanical beadlocks are easy to work with (but slow to assemble) often leaky if badly welded, and can cause balance problems on the road due to poor tyre centralisation.

I've run mechancial beadlocks for 9 years and wouldn't run anything else - I currently have three sets, but there's nothing with pneumatic locks, and they are a lot more subtle, therefore more legal.

Internals lock both beads and are alot less noticiable to the boys in blue comapared to mechanical beadlocks. :D

I chose internals for three reasons...
They lock BOTH beads.
They are a lot lighter than mechanical locks, therefore don't affect performance anywhere near as much.
They are virtually invisible, unlike mechanicals.

My stauns can also be transferred to other rims.
Changing tyres is a LOT easier too.
