Hey, has anyone fitted a Aussie Desert Coolers Aluminium Radiator to their GU. If so what fan did you use as the factory fan is bloody close. I am running twin factory thermos in front of condensor and still gets hot. Runs cooler with factory fan fitted but don't like how close it is. Does anyone know if GQ fan might sit back a little more giving more space cause would still like to use viscous hub. Otherwise might have to use flex fan. Any help much appreciated.

Im surprised the rasiator bolted in at all.
In my experience with them i had to sent the radiator back 3 times and then gave up. The holes where inches off lining up each time. I even measured it all up and sent the diagram.
They are useless.
The fans that they fit are complete garbage as well. If you want thermos (not that i think they are up to the task) try SPAL fans.

Sorry to Hijack, but i have heard some good and not good stories about Aussie desert Coolers.
OK then, are the PWR radiators any better?

i got a radiator built by aussie desert coolers bout 2 weeks ago for my rangie. i took i my original and asked for it to be the same but with brackets on the front to mount the auto cooler and the top spout straight. picked it up and didnt have the brackets or the plug in the top of the radiator to fill it up. not very good when i gave them 1 to copy. also the thermos wouldnt fit so i had to take it to get the brand new radiator modified to how they were ment to build it.
wasnt very happy with them

Hey, I've heard some horror stories with PWR also, not having bracketry in the right place, fittings around the wrong way, etc. I thought that the better of the 2 was Aussie, which pisses me off, 'cause I live close to PWR!
Cheers, Dano

Do you mean the high performance flex fans. Perhaps you need to google them to find out somemore info. complete crap

I think you would have more chance of gettin good goods, if you walked in there and said you lived 5ks up the road, than sending an email or calling them...

Was watching rides today, was about drifting and the first US car in a D1 event. Was a Holden Monaro built from the ground up.
Which included a PWR a radiator. The radiator wouldn't fit in the standard mounting brackets and the vehicle had to be modified to make it fit!

I have fitted quite a few PWR to patrols , always seemed pretty good fit .
Fan shroud mounts don't always line up but can be easily adapted. Maybe it's getting the right part ordered , there are a few different patrol radiators . Drew at PWR is great to deal with .

I have an Aussie Desert Cooler and it fitted up fine and has been great.
Only negative comment I'd make is the top brackets could have been made stronger, but then it's not like they are holding the rad up

my radiator guy told me to stay away from PWR... i thn mentioned ADC and he laughed and swore about how the guy had ruined a guys car from incorrectly sizing and building a rad for his car.
Conclusion to radiator saga

Thanks guys for your input. Will not bore with details of transactions with certain manufacturers, but have had the chance to see PWR and ADC rads side by side and conclusion. If I had to go again I would go the go the PWR. The main reason being that you can use the standard shroud with the PWR but cannot with the ADC, you would need to macgyver one to fit to get full efficiency from the ADC radiator. The ADC is very competitively priced and for other vehicles other than the GU may be perfectly fine but they do take a bit of fitting and the tanks and core are thicker than the PWR. The standard fan ends up very close to top tank and core because of this. In a fourby under pressure in the bush this could be disaster. I did not get to see a PWR in the vehicle to see how close they are to the fan however. I have found another adrad 4 core to suit the GU p/n NIS 8038TCM2, has anyone had any experience with these. Cheers

UPDATE
1 year on - I wouldn't use or recomend them anymore.
The welds are terrible and they haven't held up at all. I have it off at the moment getting it all re-welded up as it was leaking from where the end tanks were welded on.
One positive note; they did offer to fix it if I got it back to them. I have chosen not to send it too them as I have no faith in their quality and would rather pay extra and have the peice of mind that it has been done correctly.

I can only advise on where not to go.
Apparently Race Radiators do some nice stuff but I haven't used them personally.
Remember that the alloy radiators are harder and cost more to repair. Maybe an issue for those that do some outback travel.

We used to use Race Radiators in our race cars.
Never saw or heard 1 bad thing about them.
Really good company - sources quality cores from the states.
cheers.

I need a new radiator for my tb42 shorty.
I was looking at the ADC brass/copper unit.
Does anyone have recent experience with these?
Are they still having problems with mounts lining up etc.
Cheers,
