Help, Should I keep my GQ or get this GU

Hi fellows,
I am currently selling my Diesel GQ in order to get a GU for it's strength and torque.
My current GQ is as follow:
1993 GQ II
non-turbo TD42
Snorkel
380,000 km
Dx model with vinyl throughout
Cargo barrier
Warn Winch 10000 lbs
4" suspension lift
1" spacer
Adj F & R panhard
H.duty lower control arms
35" Claws x 5
Pic can be seen here
http://www.carbuddy.com.au/NISSAN-PATRO ... r/477.aspx
It's very capable of offroading but I need more power/torque! I don't plan to go comp but just use it for weekend fun.
What would be the cost to turbo it with intercooler and upgrade the exhaust?
I am also looking at getting this 2004 GU III but I am not sure if this late model GUIII still have the well known engine problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have been waiting for someone to ask about TD42 turbo kits and also ZD30 reliability - none of which have been covered on this forum EVER.
Located near the top of your browser window is a link tagged "Search". Use it. There is a squillion threads about both of these things....
Turbo kit:
http://www.turboglide.com.au/index.cfm? ... duct_ID=83
DIY= from $1000.
Second hand= from $1500
Kits= from $3500ish
DI-DO= from $4000
I am (finally) putting the turbo on my TD42 in 3 weeks time. You're pretty much guaranteed a 30-40% increase straight up, providing you use the right parts.
As for the ZD30, all i can say is read up and make your own decision.

Hhhmmmm. I dont think i would class it as spam - user accounts too old.
Maybe we need to start a new section "Post your stupid random requests here - must be in CAPS with incredibly poor grammar".
I dunno - just an idea.
Do people not read the stickies these days??
I've noticed a fair bit of crap (multiple threads and not following templates/rules) floating around the For Sale sections too.

No nazzi's here. Just two or three Nazi's, protecting the innocent from the ignorant.
Can we get this one locked up and put away please? (the thread).

Not even just the stickies, so many threads in this topic just on the first page of the Nissan section, do people not look at all before they post????

We should probably go through the TD42 turbo threads (
) and then request the
good ones to be put in the bible.
I know a lot of the bigger forums i frequent have either a probationary account where you cant post for xxx time, or they put you on a post rule (must make 15 valid posts [no stupid questions]) before allowing you classifieds access and "normal" member account functions.

how will that help, this bloke Joined: 25 Nov 2002 and has never heard of any 3.0 issues.

I would say that i was trying to be proactive, but......
I dont think its this
particular thread, just all of the recent hits together as mkpatrol pointed out. iamgq has his info now - at least it was a genuine question.

Thanks all your replies. I appreciate that.
Obviously I know about GU III problem but I don't know if GU III late model still have this problem because some people had problem some don't. I was hoping GU III late model should be fine.
The search function is to search for past information. They may or may not be up to date. That's why I post this thread asking for genuine advices and latest update. That's all.

keep the GQ and turbo it.
because the extra cost of the GU ontop of your GQ simply is not worth it for a fun car.
the GQ will go anywhere and do anything the GU will do, except its cheaper and easier to repair and maintain
GQ will get damaged less due to narrower body.
i pondered for a while to get into GU's , but quite frankly, just to get a newer looking interior and more rounded and fatter exterior, the extra expense is not worth it. the actual cost of the car is not a problem, i just woudl rather spend the extra money on other toys that woudl give me more satisfaction rather then spending it simply on a cosmetic upgrade
the GU is not more capable than the GQ, it just looks " newer"
Cheers,
Jes

mate for sure keep your td42, add a turbo to it, and look after it, its the best engine nissan ever made EVER. it is practically bullet proof, and yes EVEN CHUCK NORRIS IS SCARED OF IT!
