Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey all, finding it difficult to get a bullbar for my 1981 hilux 4x4.. Just wondring if a bullbar from a '84 Toyota Hilux 4x4 will bolt up. Did a seach but could not find anything.

pretty sure all hilux solid axel bull bars will fit all the way from 1981 - 1997, as far as i know you should be fine, but note that the surfs and 4 runners are different as they are on a different chassis with the ifs.

the LN/RN 46/36 models are complete different to the rest. You will need to buy a bull bar for you 81 or have one built.

i had the same dilemma with my old truck and now my new one as well so i wanted a new arb winch bar and to get rid of the bottoms of the front guards

i ended up buying a bar off of a ifs hilux then modifying it to fit

i took 35 mm out of each side (rn 46 is narower )then welding the wings back on and taking the same amount out of the top tube as well.
then made some new mounts

new truck build

brand new bar





the next day




the day after that



finished

so pre 84 is different but 84 - 97 is the same then???

Thanks for the replies fellas been a great help... Just another quick one then.. Is it the same scenario with the tray? It has a aluminium tradesman tray on it and wanted to put the OEM tray back on.. Proplem is cant find one from an 81 model.....

tray will bolt on but the lines are wrong and it is a slighty diferent stylen have seen a few getting around like that

2wd trays are the same on the 79 -83 and the flares bolt off if u can some off a rusty tray then bolt them on to the 2wd tray
