hey guys im new to the 4x4 scene, always been keen on getting one, now iv got the bug iv been looking to buy a gq 4.2 turbo.

iv looked at a few, but i found one that sounds like its got the goods, but he said its got 180kw at the wheels? does this sound right?

iv never had a diesel, iv only ever had v8`s, and from what iv seen most td4.2 turbos have about 100 - 120. kw

this gq is fitted with jpc roller turbo, manifold, intercooler, waterbypass(something to do with the head??), ported head, had something done with the fuel system(not sure what exactly).

to make this kind of power, surely it would need a good bottm end to hold it. im keen on making some good power from a diesel. it would be good to beat some (fullysick) commodores!

180kw with those mods sounds about right.

was at jpc the other day and they just finished a td42 with 190rwkw.

follow him to the dyno place, and if the truck makes 180kw at the rear wheels then buy it.
Offer him half of the dyno money if his car has the goods, jack all if it doesent.

the above always and quickly sorts the men from the boys.

Its possible.

with power comes stress/strain on engine, and the need to tune it regularly... can be costly really quick.
