Yet another problem, Rear tailights out

My problem question.:bad-words:

* When headlights are ON i have no rear power, e.g. numberplate lights, brake/tailights and blinkers no matter what.

* When headlights are OFF, i get normal brake lights and rear blinkers.

* Dashlights do work. so its not a simple fuse. (Damn suzy has had that before)

The other day i heard something pickup and snap in my lights/ steering/combination switches.

Is this a possible link to my problem?

Yes i could/should of posted in electrical. But other suzy people may of had this before.

Check your earths in the rear and clean out the globe holders in the lights. Check the globes are okay. Dirty contacts and earths cause no end of strange sh*t. Do you have a tow ball. If so check your trailer harness connector.

They are all up high unlike most sierras..

Pain in the arse to box in, custom boxes tacked in and smoothed off. Just enough room behind the latch on the pass side, i was very lucky! Tailgate was bent and twisted, I un-twisted and plated and boxed number plate/rev lights etc. It was all while i was looking for my wiring for the baleno motor conversion, so had plenty time to fook around..

Lights are Led trailer lights(corners), 2 pack. Reverse lights were driving lights, but has blown something somewhere else!!

If reverse lights are overloaded, The fuse is ok.. What else would of blown?
There is no power coming up the back to them whatsoever..

Reverse switch in gearbox??

I have led reverse lights now, so they shouldent blow again. But i need to fix it!!

You haven't melted, a wire near one of the joins. That could cause the problem

Im going to source a gearbox switch, then go from there if no "great success!"

Put a multi meter across the reverse switch contacts and check for continuity. It should be open or closed, depending on if your in reverse or not. If it doesn change then its faulty, if it does, then you problem lies elsewhere. Just trace power back till you loose it, then check that section of wiring/connector etc.
