standard VZ VE v8 commodore exhaust dia???

I need an exhaust system for my 5.0 into Gq ute conversion.
Seem to be plenty of stock late model v8 commodore exhaust systems on ebay, so thinking about going the tightarse option and butchering one up to suit my application. 2x cats, 2x mufflers + a heap of stainless tube & bends for <$250 sounds like a good deal to me.
Only question is does anyone know what dia tube they are (realise that this prob depends on particular model but any leads would be greatly appreciated.
Have heard that "all the late model v8 dunnydores come stock with mandrel bent 2.5inch systems"
Can this be true????
Realise that the mufflers prob wont be the most free flowing in the world but not too fussed.
Any help on this would be tops
