I havn't got dual cases yet but I am considering it.
The advantages are that you get your normal low range as well as a double low range for crawling.
That is a big advantage over just fitting lower gears into your transfer if you use your fourby for general wheeling and not purely rock.
The disadvantages for duals are the hassels in fitting.
You need to cut a hole in your tranny tunnel and fit a boot for the extra stick, modify yours or buy a new crossmember, shorten your rear drive shaft, lengthen your front drive shaft, extend your speedo cable, as well as actually bolt the two cases together.

I have fitted the Dyna 5 spd with internal shift [ not sloppy like Marks ]
with duel transfer casses I can put it into 1st low low and walk down the road and wait for the hilux to catch up
Made my own housing to suit the larger R150 / 151 / 254 gearbox to the geardrive transfer case
I have used the Advanced Adaptors Duel transfer kit
I never found fitting a 6.5" longer front tailshaft a problem as it improved the ability for greater front articulation with out breaking unis etc
Did not have to buy or modify the crossmember [this is subject to the year and model Hilux you have] welded 20mm mounts to relocate the crossmember
If you have every thing ready you can fit it in about 10 hours and a couple of blocks
